ARCTIC - When the eternal ceases to be is Arturo de Frías’ most recent photography book. His 7th published book, and very probably his best book.

ARCTIC is a must-have photography book about the most beautiful ecosystem on the planet. The book presents to you the astonishing beauty of the Arctic in 200 full-page images, from 16 expeditions (2011 to 2023), in a large full-color book: 30x30cm, 12x12 inches, 264 pages. ARCTIC is a bilingual edition: all texts are in English and Spanish.

Arturo has been incredibly lucky and during his photographic career, he has had the opportunity to join sixteen Arctic expeditions:

• eight expeditions to Svalbard, one of the most remote places on the planet, at 79-80º north, just 1,000 kilometres from the North Pole,

• four to the fjords of northern Norway, to swim with killer whales and humpback whales,

• two to Greenland, to photograph its immense glaciers and icebergs, the largest in the northern hemisphere,

• two to Swedish Lapland, to the National Parks in Abisko and Kiruna, photograph auroras.

All these expeditions took place north of the Arctic Circle (66º33' north). On most of them, Arturo travelled as a photographic guide.

Meet the most iconic species (polar bears, Arctic foxes, whales, belugas, orcas, walruses, seals… and countless seabird species) and the most spectacular landscapes (glaciers, icebergs, the pack ice, all under the gorgeous late-spring light…) plus a full Northern Lights section. All presented in Arturo’s award-winning images.

The book includes scientific texts, and 10 original drawings by Victor Soler, one of Spain’s most interesting illustrators.
